Science

Hair health

Omega-3 and antioxidants for hair loss in women
A 2015 study showed that a 6-month supplementation of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids and antioxidants can significantly reduce hair loss in women. After treatment, a significant improvement in hair density was observed, and the percentage of hair loss was significantly reduced. 89.9% of women reported less hair loss, 86.1% noticed an improvement in hair diameter, and 87.3% of women saw an increase in hair density. (Le Floc'h et al., 2015)

Skin health

Omega-3 fatty acids to support skin health

Omega-3 fatty acids (O3FA) show promising effects in inflammatory skin conditions such as psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, and acne. A review of 38 studies found that O3FA can reduce skin inflammation, promote wound healing, and possibly reduce the risk of skin cancer. They can also serve as a supportive measure for UV protection and to reduce the side effects of acne therapies. Due to their good tolerability and ease of supplementation, omega-3 is a viable option for promoting skin health (Thomsen et al., 2020).

Women's health

Omega-3 fatty acids for women's health
A 2004 study showed that omega-3 fatty acids can relieve menstrual discomfort, prolong pregnancy, and reduce the risk of miscarriage. They also support the baby's brain development and may reduce the risk of postpartum depression and postmenopausal osteoporosis. Women receiving hormone replacement therapy particularly benefit from omega-3 because it lowers triglyceride levels. (Saldeen & Saldeen, 2004)

Heart health

Omega-3 fatty acids and heart health
Omega-3 fatty acids support heart health by lowering blood pressure
regulate and lower triglyceride levels. They reduce the risk of
Heart disease and promote better cardiovascular function. (Harris, 2007)

ADHD

1. Omega-3 fatty acids for ADHD support
A 2012 study showed that omega-3 fatty acids, especially DHA, play an important role in brain development and function. Chronic dietary deficiencies in these fatty acids may increase the risk of ADHD in children. Supplementing the diet with omega-3 fatty acids may have positive effects on ADHD symptoms and support brain function. (Konikowska et al., 2012)

Brain function

Omega-3 fatty acids support brain function in old age

Long-chain omega-3 fatty acids may have a positive effect on cognitive performance and brain structure in older adults. A 26-week randomized, placebo-controlled trial examined the effect on brain function in healthy adults aged 50 to 75 years. (Witte et al., 2014)

Men's health

Omega-3 fatty acids for sperm quality
A 2019 study showed that increased intake of omega-3 fatty acids is positively associated with sperm quality. Omega-3 fatty acids support sperm concentration and motility, which may promote fertility. Consumption of fish and seafood rich in omega-3 fatty acids is also associated with better sperm quality. (Salas-Huetos et al., 2019)
